The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea! Why not join them at Brighton Marina for their Flag Day on July 16th. On this day all 235 lifeboat stations from around the UK and the Republic of Ireland pull together in one big fundraising effort to keep this essential life-saving service afloat. Visitors will be able to meet crew members and ask questions about their life-saving work. Brighton Lifeboat provides 24/7 on call search and rescue service along the Sussex coastline between Newhaven and Shoreham. There has been a Lifeboat station at Brighton since 1824 and the current Lifeboat is the B-852 ‘Random Harvest’, the latest state of the art Atlantic 85 B Class lifeboat. She started service in late 2011 after a naming ceremony at the station and has been involved in over 75 shouts. The team at Brighton are currently looking for new volunteers and will holding a recruitment day at Brighton Lifeboat Station on Saturday 20th July from 11am to 2pm – for further details you can email rnlibrighton@gmail.com.
